The Role

We're looking for our Founding Engineer — someone who will shape the technical foundation and culture of our engineering team. You'll work directly with the founder, own significant parts of the product, and have outsized impact on both our technology and business direction.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to build from the ground up, wear multiple hats, and take on challenges across the full stack. We're open to exceptional new grads who have a track record of shipping real projects, as well as experienced engineers looking for their next founding team opportunity.

What You'll Do

• Own and ship features end-to-end — from database schema to API endpoints to frontend UI
• Architect scalable systems — improve our AI processing pipeline, payment infrastructure, and user authentication
• Make product decisions — you'll have significant input on what we build and how we build it
• Optimize AI integrations — work with Anthropic's Claude API, improve prompt engineering, and reduce latency
• Scale the infrastructure — handle growing user base, improve file processing, and ensure system reliability
• Build developer tools — improve deployment processes, monitoring, and development workflows
• Hire and mentor — as we grow, help build the engineering team and establish engineering culture

Tech Stack

We're Looking For

Required:

• Strong programming fundamentals in Python or similar languages
• Experience building and shipping web applications (personal projects count!)
• Comfortable working across the stack — backend, frontend, databases, APIs
• Product-minded — you care about user experience and business outcomes, not just code
• Self-directed — you can break down ambiguous problems and drive them to completion
• Fast learner — comfortable picking up new technologies and domains quickly

Nice to Have:

• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django
• Familiarity with AI/ML APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) or prompt engineering
• Prior experience with payment integrations (Stripe, etc.)
• Understanding of authentication systems and security best practices
• Experience with AWS or other cloud providers
• Knowledge of LaTeX or document processing
• Previous startup or early-stage company experience
• Open source contributions or side projects you're proud of
